Sleep Apnea Treatment Providers in Peel, Halton & the GTA

Last updated:

Sleep apnea treatment in this region runs through three provider types: CPAP vendors who supply and fit positive airway pressure equipment (with 75% of the ADP price funded by Ontario's Assistive Devices Program for eligible residents), dentists who make custom oral appliances, and ENT physicians who assess the airway. This page lists verified providers of all three types across Peel, Halton, and the GTA.

Which treatment route a patient takes is decided with their own physician after a diagnosis — this directory doesn't advise on that, and neither should a vendor. What the directory does is map who actually provides what: the listings below carry evidence-checked service flags, so a clinic marked "CPAP" or "dental appliance" stated that service in its own published materials, not just in a business category.

The short version

  • Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) covers 75% of the ADP price of PAP systems — CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP — for eligible residents with a valid health card.
  • The patient portion, plus masks and supplies, is what CPAP quotes are made of — itemized quotes differ meaningfully between vendors.
  • Oral appliances for sleep apnea are made by dental sleep medicine providers and are not an OHIP-billed service; many extended health plans contribute.
  • CPAP suppliers are the region's most numerous sleep businesses — nearly every municipality we cover has several.

What's covered under the CPAP (ADP) program in Ontario?

Ontario's Assistive Devices Program covers 75% of the ADP price for respiratory equipment, and the covered category explicitly includes Positive Airway Pressure systems — CPAP, auto-titrating (APAP), and bi-level (BiPAP) machines. Eligibility requires being an Ontario resident with a valid health card, and the funding flows through registered vendors: the vendor bills ADP for its portion and you pay the remainder, so there is no reimbursement paperwork to chase afterwards.

Two boundaries of the program worth knowing before you shop: ADP does not cover replacing lost equipment, nor repairs to equipment damaged through misuse or neglect — those costs are the owner's. And the 75% applies to the ADP price of the system itself, which is not the same thing as 75% of everything on a vendor's invoice. That gap is the subject of the next section, because it is the single most common surprise in CPAP forums.

Why is my CPAP quote higher than the ADP-covered amount?

Ontario CPAP forums are full of a specific confusion: "the machine is 75% covered, so why is my quote over a thousand dollars?" The answer is in the line items. A working CPAP setup includes the machine plus a fitted mask, tubing, filters, and often a humidifier — and vendors differ in what they bundle, what they price separately, and what service fees they add for fitting, follow-up, and data checks.

None of that makes a given quote improper — fitting and follow-up are real services — but it does make quotes hard to compare unless they're itemized. The useful questions for any provider on this page: what is the ADP price of the machine and my portion of it; what does the mask cost and how many refits are included; what supplies will I buy in year one; and are follow-up appointments billed. Providers accustomed to ADP paperwork answer these readily. If a quote arrives as one unexplained number, ask for the breakdown before committing.

Do I need a prescription to get a CPAP machine?

Yes — CPAP is prescription equipment in Canada, and the path to it runs through a sleep study. The standard sequence in Ontario: a physician refers you for a sleep study; a sleep physician interprets it; if the diagnosis supports it, you receive a CPAP prescription with pressure settings; and an ADP-registered vendor dispenses the machine, handles the funding paperwork, and fits your mask. Vendors on this page cannot start that sequence — only a physician can.

This is also where the two halves of this directory connect: if you haven't had a sleep study yet, the referral logistics live on our sleep study clinics page. If you already hold a prescription, the CPAP listings below are the region's dispensing map, and most municipalities we cover have multiple vendors — you can compare locations, hours, and services before deciding where to take your prescription. The prescription is yours; you are not obligated to fill it wherever the sleep clinic suggests.

What are the alternatives to CPAP — and who provides them here?

"Alternate solution for sleep apnea other than CPAP" is one of the most-asked questions in sleep communities, and the answer in provider terms — the only terms this site deals in — is that this region has two established non-CPAP provider types. Dental sleep medicine practices make custom oral appliances: physician-diagnosed patients are fitted with a device worn at night that repositions the lower jaw. ENT practices assess airway anatomy — nose, throat, tonsils — and manage the surgical and structural side of airway care.

Whether any alternative fits a particular case is a medical judgment for the treating physician; appliances and surgery each have their own candidacy criteria that only a clinician applies. Our role is the map: listings below flag "dental appliance" and "ENT / airway" providers separately from CPAP vendors, and the dental side of that map is developed in more depth on the dental sleep medicine page, which covers costs, insurance, and how dentists and physicians divide the work.

I can't tolerate my CPAP mask — what do providers actually offer?

Mask struggles dominate CPAP forums — claustrophobia, ripping the mask off overnight, leaks that start at 5 a.m., dry mouth, air swallowing. If that's where you are, the relevant service fact is that mask fitting and troubleshooting is a service CPAP providers sell and compete on, not a one-time transaction at purchase. Established vendors stock multiple mask styles and sizes, offer refits, and can read your machine's own data to see what's happening overnight.

Concretely, providers in these listings variously offer: trial or exchange programs on masks, scheduled follow-up appointments in the first weeks, humidification options for dryness, and data reviews shared with your physician. What resolves any individual problem is between you, the provider, and your doctor — but "come back in and we'll try a different mask" is a normal request at these businesses, not an imposition. The follow-up policies a vendor publishes are a reasonable basis for choosing between the many suppliers below.

Where are sleep apnea treatment providers located across the region?

CPAP supply is the most widely distributed sleep service we track — it is the one category with verified providers in nearly every municipality on this site, from multiple vendors in North York, Mississauga, Toronto, Vaughan, and Markham down to smaller clusters in Milton and Halton Hills. Dental appliance and ENT/airway providers are thinner on the ground and concentrate in the larger centres.

Because the categories overlap — some clinics dispense CPAP and fit appliances, some testing providers also sell equipment — the service badges on each card are the reliable guide, not the business name. Every badge is backed by a quoted statement from the clinic's own website, held to the evidence standard described on our methodology page. If a provider you use is missing or mislabelled, the listing's claim link is the fastest correction route.

Frequently asked questions

Does OHIP cover CPAP machines in Ontario?

CPAP funding runs through Ontario's Assistive Devices Program (ADP) rather than OHIP billing: ADP covers 75% of the ADP price of PAP systems for eligible Ontario residents with a valid health card, and the patient pays the remainder plus supplies. Registered vendors handle the ADP paperwork at purchase.

What does ADP not cover?

The program states it does not cover replacing lost equipment or repairing equipment damaged through misuse or neglect. Masks, tubing, filters, and other consumable supplies are also priced separately from the funded system — ask any vendor for an itemized quote.

Can I buy a CPAP machine without a sleep study?

No — CPAP is prescription equipment, and the prescription follows a physician-interpreted sleep study. If you don't yet have a diagnosis, start with the referral process described on our sleep study clinics page.

Are oral appliances for sleep apnea covered by OHIP?

No — oral appliance therapy is not an OHIP-billed service. Many extended health plans contribute when there is a physician's diagnosis; individual dental sleep clinics publish their own fee and insurance guidance. See our dental sleep medicine page for the full picture.

Do I have to buy my CPAP from the clinic that did my sleep study?

No. The prescription is yours to fill at any ADP-registered vendor. Some testing clinics also sell equipment, which can be convenient — but you can compare the vendors listed on this page and choose independently.
